726   [Convicts Letter] 1818 entire letter written by a convict on board ship at Woolwich waiting to sail to Botany Bay asking his cousin for some money, tobacco, arm clothes and a statement of previous good which he can show the Governor. He has been boat swain of the shop but he will get o pay for this job and the journey will take six months.  He hopes to be able to establish himself in Botany Bay and eventually send for his family Also circa 1825 ‘The unhappy Transport Sorrowful Account’ by James Revel,. The Unhappy Sufferer.  Along printed poem of this life having been sentenced to 14 years in the Colonies [2]       200
727   [Wales –Convict Letters] 1825 two entire letters from Joseph Davies to his wife Martha from Ysgwuddy Gwyn Gelligaer, the first written on March 25th on the Justitia Hulk lying at Woolwich asks his wife to join him in New South Wales with their daughter for which she would have to pay her passage also send his love to family and friends, the second letter is dated Oct 4th 1825 from NSW ;’the moment I landed I was sent up country to clear land for a gentleman’ he goes on to say that his as comfortable as he can expect and gives a description of the Colony with detail on crops and provisions i.e. ’butter is 1/6 per pound, beef 7d per pound, rum 2d a pint’ after references to relatives and detail of where to direct her letters and again asks her to join him.  A third letter is written in 1863 from Auckland [bears 6d Imperf Chalon] and gives good descriptions of life in the Colony and mentions the Moari War which is not affecting Auckland.  This letter is signed Joseph and Isabella Davies and it would appear that he has now remarried in the Colonies.  A Rare and very interesting trio of great historical interest [3]   PIC   500
